Consolidated Corporate Intranet |
Problem |
- Large multi-national corporation had multiple intranet web sites that were:
- Unavailable to many of the other locations and/or business units
- Frequently out of date with inaccurate content
- Not well supported, often with no defined ownership
- Not unified with common corporate look and feel
|
Project Objectives |
- Create single, consolidated, enterprise-wide intranet to support all business units
|
Approach |
- Created company wide look and feel
- Instigated Intranet User Group, comprised of members from each business unit, to provide leadership and direction and ensure "buy-in" and participation
- Created "killer applications" such as on-line corporate phone directory to stimulate user traffic and interest
- Installed web-based document management system (Livelink) to provide global, cross-platform document management functionality
|
Results |
- Greatly improved communications across the enterprise
- Provided single platform for application deployment across enterprise
- Improved stability, availability, and accuracy of information
- Enabled business units to more rapidly deliver new systems on single platform
